BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Michael D Karr, DDS, President of Medical Relief International, began traveling to Haiti to serve the needs odrmikef  the people in 1994, in response to a request from a missionary.  After one trip, he was hooked!  Since then he has formed multiple trips to different countries, sometimes closing his own practice and taking his entire staff with him, at his own cost.

Dr. Karr's passions and vision has been passed on to his daughter, Stacey, a graduate from Las Vegas University, who joined his practice in Granite Falls, Washington in August of 2007. He has also invested in the dental students from the University of Washington as well as the Las Vegas University, instructing them in emergent care under difficult conditions. Dr. Karr and his daughter, Stacey Cerven, DDS, work side by side at their practice in Granite Falls.


William E Mays, Ph.D, Executive Director of Medical Relief International, billgirlbegan accompanying Dr. Karr to Haiti that same year.  Together they created, designed, and perfected mobile dental units that would take them into remote locations with quality dental care.  Dr. Mays, with the oversight of Dr. Karr, pioneered a mobile dental lab that would enable them to replace extracted front teeth, which has brought joy and changed the lives of hundred of young people.  Putting Teeth Into Love

Dr. Thomas joined the Board of Directors after getting hooked on dental missions.  Not only does he provide young energy and expertise, but a true heart and love for people in need.  Dr. Thomas practices dentistry in Kirkland and Mercer Island.




Stacey Cerven, DDS
staceycervenStacey's passion as a member of the Board of Directors, is to encourage dental students to get hooked on serving.  Stacey travels to her alma mater, UNLV regularly to give presentations and to solicit students to serve a week in Haiti each year.  Stacey herself is fully committed to medical relief, and has made it a priority in her own practice in Granite Falls.




Nick Freeman
began serving in missions early in life, and has continued to regularly carve time out of his busy business career to go wherever he is needed.
